I grieve because I love. I wrote this song as a heartfelt tribute to my beloved grandma Sofya who passed away unexpectedly three years ago. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye before she died. It was heavy on me and it happened all of a sudden, just before COVID-19 lockdown began. I learned so much from her during my childhood and teenage years. She was THE embodiment of selflessness, hard work and love clothed in strength and dignity. This song is a reminder to myself and others that it’s ok to grieve for a loved one(s) but also it’s ok to choose to move on and find your way out of it because they’re now in a better place.
