In 1977, Ohio State University Professor Jerry Ehman was reviewing a stack of computer printouts. The printouts listed numbers and letters representing sounds picked up in outer space. Ehman spotted an unusual sequence. It was something they had never seen before. With a red pen, he circled a series of numbers and letters, and wrote “Wow!” in the margin of the printout.
