‘HEAVENLY’ was born late at night in a small bedroom studio in Downtown LA, during a very low point in my life. There are times in our lives when we feel as if we’ve been beaten and broken down so much that we’re unable to get back on our feet. I was at that point, and suddenly the lyrics for a hook just downloaded into my brain. “Break down so, you rise above. God knows where I want to be.” I was immediately inspired by the lyrics and melodies that started to cycle in my mind, almost like a prayer or mantra to take myself out of the headspace I was in. My producer and good friend Psykott - in near-divine timing - called to let me know he had an awesome guitarist & writer (Ben Cina) coming through to his studio and that I should come by to cook up a tune. As soon as I arrived, the vibe just completely clicked and Ben started laying down ideas for the guitar melody. It’s truly a magical feeling when you have multiple creative badasses all bouncing ideas off of eachother. Once Psy started adding in the drums and other melodies/instruments, I found my flow. We dialed in the hook and some harmonies that night, and met for a second session where we finished the rest of the song (or so we thought) & added some finishing touches. The version that we left the studio with that day, along with some mixing spice added a few days later, is the song you’re hearing today. This is where the story gets crazy. One day I was scrolling through TikTok when I stumbled across the legendary Timbaland’s Live Stream where he listens to new music and gives his feedback. I figured I might as well give it a shot, so I sent in two songs, one of which was ‘HEAVENLY.’ His reaction to the record is something I’ll probably never forget. To put it in perspective, this man will literally cut the song and kick an artist off the stream (with the help of a good meme) instantly for playing something he didn’t like. Suddenly, I see that he requested to bring me up to share my tunes, so I’m honestly freaking out a bit. Once the song started to play, Timbo started vibing, and long story short, followed me to connect more and help me work more on the record. The coolest part (IMO) for you as a collector, is that you’re getting a version of the song that will not be released anywhere else. I’ve always admired Sound.xyz and their community, so for my first release here I wanted to bring you all something special. My dream is that one day you’ll hear the finished version of ‘HEAVENLY’ on the radio one day, or find that it’s going absolutely mental on streaming, and you can wink at your friend and tell them you got an early, unreleased version of the song. I hope that the lyrics and message/vibe of ‘HEAVENLY’ reminds you that no matter how far down a dark path you are, or how difficult of a time you may be experiencing right now, that it is only temporary, and all the lessons/hardships that life may throw at you are only stepping stones to a better tomorrow.<3 With all my love, Isaiah
