I've been back and forth for a long time now on what my next move in life is gonna be, which has coincided with some setbacks on many levels recently that effectively solidified that I had to make it now, or I never would. Long story short, I'm going back to school to get my Master's degree in music, with the plan to teach/educate folks about electronic music from a Black perspective, and our history in revolutionizing all music with just a handful of musical devices and techniques, or through developing musical styles that dominate popular music to this day. I digress, though: I've been feeling defeated until recently because I failed elsewhere in my life. I tried, really hard, but maybe just not hard enough. I'm tired. Exhausted. Sometimes from just being a Black man living in this world we live in, most times from just not being where I expected to be by now, which is really where the idea of this song originated. This is for my peoples who are ready to give up. To stop chasing for a minute, and to accept where you're at and how you feel, instead of propping up your ego and your pride, and say out loud that you really did try. We all have, we've all been there, too, so you're not alone, and this isn't the end. Enjoy it while you can, enjoy it here in this moment I created, and find catharsis in knowing you have to fail at some point, to one day eventually succeed. Right? Right...
