"Lucid" is another one of my favorite tracks from my last album, “Hyperbolic Vibe Chamber”. For this release, I chose some of my favorite tracks to pair with the amazing artwork of the one and only IG: kindgotospace. The concept for the art is based on an experience I had a few months ago where I was walking back to my car from a concert on a cold winter night in the city. I was passing by an alleyway, when I noticed a vent on the side of one of the buildings, emitting a puff of steam that formed a beautiful spiral formation. It felt other worldly and I felt so blessed to be able to appreciate the beauty taking place in that moment. Driving home that night, I was reflecting on why that moment was so striking. I think it was the idea that there is so much beauty happening around us, and the demands of our world, the 9-5, etc. all too often make us forget that. If we just take a moment to slow down and be present, the world quickly begins to show us that beauty. It also made me think about places like station 9 3/4 in HP. You have this train station that looks like another stop, but unbeknownst to us muggles, there is this portal that can transport you into this magical world. I feel like making music is like that for me. That puff of steam in the alleyway served as a reminder of the magic that exists in this world if we keep our eyes, ears, and spirits open. It’s one of the few places I can go to for that escape. It’s such a blessing to be able to make art and be able-bodied enough to listen, to peruse through vinyl in the record store to look for that fire sample to flip. I was talking to my friend GC about this and he had the idea to create visuals that bring the metaphor of the alleyway to life.
