6 years ago I was making electronic music fully “in the box”, dragging midi notes around until something finally stuck. I couldn’t fight the feeling that I was missing something, and that the emotions and sounds inside me weren’t quite getting out this way. So, I started learning piano. At first this was a seriously daunting experience, as our culture places so much emphasis on “talent” and gives us so much fear to “suck” at something that we just started, and it is always easier to give into the urge to silently stop before people hear you, then to keep going until they do. Thankfully, I kept going with a beginners mind and fell in love with the kind of exploration that an instrument gave me. 2 years later I picked up the guitar, and after 2 more years I took the scariest leap, and decided to learn how to sing. “In My Head” is the first track I have written featuring my vocals, and as I let it out into the world, there is this buzzing sense that whatever has been stuck inside me finally has a way out. While it still feels like I am just taking my first steps as an artist, I hope you enjoy the song, and that hearing a bit of this story might inspire you to follow whatever it is that is calling out to you personally, even if there is a wall of fear in your way.
