Songs about mental health can be difficult to appreciate so I put in extra effort to make the production super pretty. I wanted the intro to feel like you’re a lion descending into a luscious moonlit jungle and find a peaceful swimming hole to chill out near. I wrote Schemaa when I started getting really serious about therapy. I was beginning to learn about schemas and how even the most brief interactions with strangers could trigger a really confusing and harsh internal dialogue that was at times impossible to break out of and often leads to various forms of self-sabotage. Throughout this track I’m exploring the idea that success/longevity is something that can only be had after we overcome our internal critic, start to thrive in taking care of ourselves and better managing our relationships. A lot of what I say is exaggeration and deluded manifestation.
