Something for Us, is the first track off upcoming EP 'THERMOPOLIUM'. . . . . The EP began as something completely different and of course evolved, like it always does. It's taken a few forms and it has started to feel more like an audio collage. It's quite erratic but repetitive. I think. The Track: Something for us revolves around a specific moment in the concept of the EP. I wanted it to be a turbulent aural experience, as it is to reflect the chaos of a volcanic eruption. Concept: As songs began taking shape for 'THERMOPOLIUM', I had also been reading about ancient Rome. I started to think of the last day in Pompeii, and how it must've felt on that day. I started writing little poems and having these scenes play in my head. Daydreaming of the chaos and beauty of the time. As a result of this brief infatuation, the EP heavily revolves around the memory of Pompeii and the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. (through my lense) Sonically, these arrangements are to give the listener heir to the anxieties and releases of the time. The Art: I created this cover art before I had written any music regarding the EP. I made the image on my phone, blending different layers of the same image with different filters and rendering. Over and over again. I always liked this image, and it was the starting point for 'THERMOPOLIUM'. So, it seems fitting to incorporate it to this digital collectable. some words: //From wine drunk sing-a-longs in the eateries, to blood stained sand in the colosseum. The wafts off wood fire smoke cascade through the marketplace, laced with tones of garlic and pork fat. The rumble started as a distant tremor, but grew into violent shakes, throwing patrons from their seats, shattering cups and plates. Bittered by the pyroclastic fall out of the eruption. Life around here ends in hours.
