In Trinidad and Tobago, a groundbreaking genre called "Trinibad" emerged—a dark yet melodic dancehall twist often sung by youth in impoverished communities and areas with gang affiliations. Within a year, I tragically witnessed the loss of 10 artists, some of whom I knew personally and others from a distance. Their lives were claimed by gun violence, often linked to the rumored lyrical content of "Trinibad" songs. Heartbroken, I penned a song mourning these talented individuals and pleading for positive change in my country. The recording process was emotional, especially since it occurred shortly after losing a friend to gang-related violence. 🇹🇹❤
