Pins and Needles is an anthem for reclaiming identity. It is about losing yourself in another person which leads to disintegration in the relationship. I wrote it in Brooklyn, the day after getting off of tour with Del Water Gap, and was filled with so many conflicting emotions. I told Ben (producer of the song) that I needed 20 minutes alone to process and write and came back with “Pins and Needles”. I thought about the physical feeling of losing somebody, and the concept quickly formed itself from there.
