A lot of thought has gone into what should be the first issue of a series of releases that tell the story of my native Igbo Culture & Tradition, through the lens of my own personal Life experience. At the end of a near-overthink timeframe, the choice had been staring at me, the entire time - START AT THE BEGINNING. NSỤKKA (pronounced "n-su-car",) is a small town situated in the northern part of Enugu State, South-East Nigeria. It is also my place of birth. My Father moved there in his youth, and built our family there. I grew up in an area of NSỤKKA, called "Ọ́FULỌNỤ" (a literal translation would read "beyond words"). Growing up, it felt like a close-knit community of some sort, as everyone that lived on our street at the time, knew each other. I can still remember evenings when my Mom would sit at our verandah, and make conversation with her friends that lived across the street. A lot of times, her close friends would visit our house with their own kids. Us kids would go out to the verandah to play, and my Mom would bring out our family photo albums, for her friends to leaf through, while eating the biscuits they had been served. The same would happen when we visited them, as well. NSỤKKA is also host to the first University of Nigeria. It is the town that's often referenced in the novel, PURPLE HIBISCUS, by world-renowned author, Chimamanda Adichie. She grew up in Nsukka, as well. A lot of my fondest childhood memories were made in the university campus, as I was fond of traipsing it's roads, after school, with my friends. Alongside Jos, Nsukka has the best climate in Nigeria. The food is rich, tasty, and homegrown. One of NSỤKKA's native delicacies "ỌKPA", is famous all over Nigeria, and is usually the first meal that visitors from other parts of the country want to try. The track, NSỤKKA FEELS, captures the way I feel about growing up in that beautiful town. The Serenity and Calm in the air... Everything from going to school; to going out to play football in the evenings... Saturday visits to the Children's Centre Library; Following my Mother through "AHỊA OGIGE" (OGIGE Market) to shop for Christmas clothes, and then, those memorable visits to my grandparents in the village, every quarter, as well as during Christmas... It's all beautiful memories. All of this, is what NSỤKKA FEELS captures in sonic motion. Enjoy.
