Started writing “talk nice” back in December of 2022 and it only existed as a hook for almost a year. I was still unsure if closure was something I’d ever find, and the sentiment of the song was stronger than I’d felt I could finish at the time. The song was able to grow as I found clarity and strengthened my resolve. It’s about reclaiming power and setting boundaries with the person you once held on the highest pedestal.
