I composed this string arrangement for a 24 piece String Ensemble to be on the instrumental section of song I wrote called "Without You". I spent 80 hours studying scores of Nelson Riddle, Stravinsky, Debussy, and Ravel. Focused especially on Nelson Riddle (one of my favorite orchestral arrangers). My goal was to capture the feeling that those romantic/impressionistic classical string arrangements embodied. I took the patterns I saw in these scores and used the same patterns over the melody of the song. This recording is tracked live in a studio in Los Angeles, I hired out 2 violinists, 1 Violist, and 1 Cellist, in one room at the same time (string quartet). I had them stack the parts until it had the full 24 piece string ensemble sound. They did a marvelous job. I gave every part of my soul to scoring this piece. It is a piece of my heart that lives on in the sonic realm. Hope it can mean something to you.
