Back in 2013 Bitcoin investors Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, famous outside crypto for suing Mark Zukerberg, suggested that Bitcoin would remain a viable currency. They expanded their idea by claiming that Bitcoin would become both a protocol and a platform. They also used some of the US$65 million Facebook payout to start stockpiling bitcoin, per Forbes. At the time, in a report in The New York Times, they were the first prominent figures to publicly disclose their stake in bitcoin, claiming they had invested US$11 million into the cryptocurrency.
