Hey I’m Alexander 23 an artist/songwriter/producer from Chicago who lives in LA but still roots for the Bulls. I started making music when I was 9 years old after seeing my dad play guitar. I knew instantly that if I wasn’t gonna make it to the league that I had to make music for the rest of my life. I played in bands in high school and dropped out of college after my freshman year while studying engineering to tour as a drummer/bass player. I originally moved to LA in 2018 to write/produce songs for other artists. It was cool to start to try to make a living doing in the studio, but I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. I was working with talented artists, but I wasn’t feeling creatively fulfilled. I called my manager and told him to cancel all of my sessions. I wanted to be an artist and make my own music. I wanted to exist musically outside the studio. Fast forward a little bit and I was able to release my first music as Alexander 23 in 2019 and was fortunate enough to go on tour with Omar Apollo and Chelsea Cutler that same year. When the pandemic hit in 2020, everything changed, as it did for everyone. Tour was cut short and I went back to LA feeling defeated. That initial isolation brought me back to a time in my own life when everything was going wrong: personally, professionally, romantically. It was that same feeling that something really important was missing. This feeling inspired me to write “IDK You Yet” and this song changed my life. This year I was able to go on tour opening for one of my heroes John Mayer, was nominated for a Grammy for co-producing ‘good 4 u’ by Olivia Rodrigo and just last week “IDK You Yet” went platinum (three things that don’t even sound real when I say them outloud). I wanted to share the original demo of  “IDK You Yet” because hearing it in its original stripped form is such a strong reminder of the power of a single song. As fans of music I think we all understand that and it’s what keeps us coming back for more.
